Synthetic Cicadas Series:

‘Synthetic Cicadas: Found’ is a special edition series consisting of (5) five separate sculptures created for the ‘Hidden Worlds and Wonders’ Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition as nods to the companion exhibition inside the Norman Rockwell Museum showcasing the work of Walter Wick. These pieces were developed to mirror concepts and visual language he developed through decades of photography for many publications including the ‘I Spy’ series. Shortly before these came into publication in the early 90’s I was a teenager in the 80’s whose tastes were heavily formed by movements such as the Memphis Milano aesthetic developed by Ettore Sottsass and friends from 1981-89. The new wave of Swiss Graphic Design that followed as seen in the work of Dan Friedman, April Greiman, Skolos Wedell and others had a profound impact on my career in that field during my 20’s and 30’s as well as in the sculptural work I focus on now in my 50’s.

Biofields Series:

The Biofield Series is an exploration into various organisms either real or imagined and how their biofields might interact when they are in each other's presence. What happens when auras overlap and interact magnetically and visually?

Coastal Cortex Series:

The cerebral cortex plays keys roles in our brains related to memory, thinking, learning, reasoning, problem-solving, emotions, consciousness and functions related to the senses. How we organize the memories in our brain, what we put in our frontal lobe to navigate the everyday sometimes feels out of our control. If we recalculate the volume of the memories or have someone else do it for us, can we regain control of what we give our conscious thought access to?
